How you can help...

VOLUNTEER

Volunteer with OHP in Sumatra

Get hands-on experience through our monthly volunteer research opportunities. Depending on the length of your availability, you have two volunteer options:
A. The monthly two-week long Volunteer program.
B. The Project Assistant program, where your stay is negotiable (from three weeks onwards).

Either way, both of OHP’s volunteer opportunities allow you to get involved, aid in orangutan research, ecology and conservation, and trek through pristine primary rainforest all while staying in Southeast Asia.

Volunteer from your home (country)

If you are unable to contribute to OHP as a volunteer at our Sumatra field base, there are plenty of other ways for you to get involved. Some of these include (but are not limited to):

  • Gathering support from your local community
  • Spreading the word about OHP and the amazing yet critical research we are undertaking to ensure the longevity of future generations of wild orangutans (OHP can provide you with promotion materials ranging from brochures to a PowerPoint presentation)
  • Setting up fundraising campaigns to support OHP’s work and help us create a new research and conservation site in Sumatra
  • Aiding in finding sponsors for OHP’s critical orangutan medical and conservation research
  • Providing assistance in grant writing
  • Donating an item(s) from OHP’s ‘Orang Helping Primates’ Wish List.

MAKE A FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTION

OHP is a non-profit research project. Any financial contribution, big or small, goes a long way here in Indonesia. Financial donations are used for all aspects of the project, from paying field assistant salaries and purchasing field equipment to paying for transportation of samples and lab analysis to helping fund OHP’s future, new research and conservation site. If you would like your donation to be allocated to a specific area, please let us know contact us at orangutanhealth@nusa.net.id or foitova@sci.muni.cz.

We will gladly allocate money as you desire.

OHP’S "ORANG HELPING PRIMATES" WISH LIST

The term “orang” is Indonesian for “people.” By donating an item from the OHP Wish List below, you will be contributing to the survival of the orangutan by helping OHP further its research goals, which will hopefully bring knowledge to basic science, public health and wildlife management and help to save not just the orangutan, but the flora and fauna of the rainforest that the orangutan calls home. The OHP Wish List consists of items that the project is in need of. Any contribution to the project will have a positive impact on OHP and be greatly appreciated. If you or anyone you know would like to donate anything from our Wish List, please contact us at orangutanhealth@nusa.net.id or foitova@sci.muni.cz.
